About MidAmerica 7v7

MidAmerica 7v7 is a nonprofit organization committed to nurturing youth development through accessible and inclusive opportunities. Our mission is to build a thriving 7-on-7 football ecosystem across the Midwest, giving kids an affordable, community-driven alternative to expensive travel sports.

Unlike many youth sports that impose limits and create barriers, we believe in inclusivity first.

Football is special because participation is universal—every player has a role, every skill set matters. 7-on-7 takes that spirit even further: it’s fast, fun, and built for everyone. With no weight restrictions, size limits, or tackling concerns, the game is played with one-hand touch and no blocking. Every player is a potential quarterback, receiver, or defender—making it the ultimate team sport where everyone gets a chance to shine.

Our vision of inclusivity extends beyond the field. 7v7 is gender-neutral, income-accessible, and skill-flexible. Training happens in backyards, playgrounds, and open spaces—no expensive facilities required. All it takes is people, space, and a ball.

To support new and existing programs, MidAmerica 7v7 provides resources: playbooks, practice plans, uniform assistance, insurance guidance, and team communication tools. Our goal is to remove barriers, so volunteers and leaders can focus on what really matters—helping kids grow through the game.

Our History

The journey began in 2018, when three local high school programs—the Iowa City West Trojans, Clear Creek Amana Clippers, and Thomas Jefferson J-Hawks—came together for the inaugural Playmaker Iowa Elite Tournament. Organized by Trevor and Jennifer Bollers with the support of coaches and community members, the event marked Iowa’s first independent 7v7 tournament.

In 2019, Iowa 7v7 Football Inc. was officially founded as a nonprofit. The movement quickly grew—teams like Team Iowa and Level Up began showcasing Iowa athletes on the national stage, while grassroots youth programs such as the Fire Dragons, Akhievers, and Savages laid the foundation for youth club competition.

Our Playmaker tournament series expanded from one event into four, with more than 200 kids of all skill levels participating each year. These tournaments became more than just games—they became a celebration of athleticism, teamwork, and community.

Today

Now rebranded as MidAmerica 7v7, we’re building on those roots to create something even bigger: a connected, supportive network that stretches across the Midwest. With 200+ teams and growing, our mission remains the same—make 7-on-7 football a game for everyone.
